Like I wrote in this short piece for Pitchfork, LA producer Glenn Boothe (a.k.a. Knx., Knxwledge) epitomizes the phrase “quietly prolific”; the guy has been dropping excellent beats non-stop since 2009, and yet it seems like hardly anyone outside of his SoCal scene is talking about him. This gummy, soulful tune is taken from his new double-tape for Stones Throw/Leaving Records, and is one of 53 tracks released on Anthology.

One of my favorite albums released this year is Order of Noise by Bristol producer Vessel. I interviewed the 22-year-old artist born Sebastian Gainsborough via email for this feature (he didn’t feel comfortable speaking on the phone or with Skype), and he told me about the music scene in his hometown, how his production work changed when creating his LP for Tri Angle, and why exactly he’s drawn to the word “noise”.
